The BEF, Run for Success was a great event yesterday. For the third year in a row and the third year of the event it grew by 20 percent. The participants were great, the Barnstable Education Foundation members, especially Donna Eager, and Karen Mcdonald were fantastic, all volunteers were tremendous. A special thank you to the students(volunteers) who came out from Barnstable High School, to include their principal Pat Clark. No events can be put on without the help of volunteers.

The Seventh Annual Falmouth Flag Day 5K Run OR Walk to benefit Falmouth Education Foundation will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 10 a.m. T-shirts are going fast, so if you want to enter you should do so soon to secure your shirt. The spectacular waterfront out-and-back route starts and finishes in front of the British Beer Company across from the Falmouth Heights Beach on Grand Avenue.

Children as well as adults are invited to walk OR run the 5KÂ (3.1 miles). Medals will be awarded to everyone 17-and-under who completes the distance.
There will be a Red Sox ticket give-away at the awards ceremony and many great prizes donated by local businesses to age-group winners.
The race is managed by former Falmouth Road Race co-directors Kathy and Rich Sherman, plus Falmouth staffer Jo-Ann Leaf, so you can be confident it will be a well-run event.
We highly recommend this fast-growing and popular 5K to walkers and runners of all speed and ages.

The first event for 2017 is “Good Run for Good Works”, for the Hyannis Rotary, March 18th, 2017 as part of the Home, Garden, and Lifestyles Show at Barnstable High School.
The second event is “Cape Cod Beer Race to the Pint”, at the brewery, year two of the event. The date is April 22, 2017 and again this year a 5k or 10k your choice. The course is much more scenic. The event will be operated by Sea Sports Cyclery and Outdoors, this year.
The third event is the Tour de Barnstable, year number 3, May 7th, 2017, start and finish at Aselton Park with a party at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum after. This event will be operated by Sea Sports Cyclery and Outdoors, this year.

On October 15th family and friends will hold the second annual 5k walk/run in loving memory of Meghan McCormack. At the ‘Miles for Meghan’ event, we will raise money to help fight Cystic Fibrosis as well as celebrate Meghan’s love of life. Meghan lived an extremely active life and enjoyed everything from walks on the beach to mountain biking to flying around the racetrack representing Cape Cod Healthcare at Seaside Le Mans. Meghan had a vibrant personality and cherished her family, friends, and co-workers at Cape Cod Healthcare, where she happily worked for over 15 years. Meghan never let Cystic Fibrosis define her. She continues to be an inspiration to all who knew her.
There are three great events coming up in August. August 7, The Green Run, Lowell Park in Cotuit, Old Home Week 3 Miler, part of C’Ville’s Old Home Week, and Run with the Cops for Kids with Cancer, August 22nd. After event parties for all three. Run for the Sun, a two mile run walk downtown Hyannis is next Tuesday Julyn 12th, 2016. Youth races are included.Youth races start at 6:15, all others at 6:30. Tropical Smoothie will be serving smoothies at the finish and there will be a party at Trader Ed’s after. It is a don’t miss. Cape Cod Beer andSEMCSports have agreed to put on a running festival on April 23, 2016 starting and finishing at the brewery, 1336 Phinneys Lane, Hyannis, MA, 02601. Details will be announced the first of the week of January 25th, 2016. Come join us.
The Tour de Barnstable is coming May 15, 2016 with new features, new segments & more! Current registration fees change January 1, 2016.

In addition to the 35-mile Tour de Barnstable, we are adding the “Tour de Barnstable 43,” which covers most of the same course plus another 8 miles. The “43” is limited to 50 riders who can average 21 miles or more per hour. (There will be a special police escort for the group.)
We’re also adding three King of the Mountains (KOMs) and Queen of the Mountains (QOMs): Cotuit Cycling Tour KOM/QOM; SeaSport KOM/QOM; Larry Gray Cup KOM/QOM. Strava is required.
We want to thank all that participated in our events this year, participants, volunteers, sponsors and any others that I have not included. We hoped you enjoyed the events and will join us again in 2016.

November 14,2015, BEF’s, Run for Success take place starting near the Centerville Elementary School on Bay Lane in Centerville, MA. On-line registration is closed, same day registration is from 7:30-9:30 across the street from the school. Youth runs are included.
All of the friends of the Barnstable Education Foundation (BEF) wish to honor Sheila Burns the head of BEF. Sheila is hospitalized and is not able to attend the event. If you have free time and can attend the event as either a runner or walker please join us tomorrow, the 14th of November.
