A “Grand Bike Do” in the tradition of European “Gran Fondo’s,” this is a shorter distance, but as the name implies, will be great fun for all participants.
May 7th, at 8:30 a.m.
This is a senic 38-mile ride through all the villages of the Town of Barnstable on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
As part of the event, for those that wish to test their speeds, there will be three King of the Mountains (KOM’s) and Queen of the Mountains (QOM’s). They are the Cotuit Cycling KOM/QOM, the SeaSport KOM/QOM, and the Larry Gray Cup, sponsored by Cape Cod Cycling Club.. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female riders in each of the KOM’s and QOM’s, plus a perpetual trophy for the Larry Gray Cup.

The start and end of the ride is at Aselton Park, the corner of South Street and Ocean Avenue in Hyannis, MA. Part of the route will follow the South Coast Bicycle Route, a signed, on-road, bicycle route highlighting the villages of Barnstable on comfortable, quiet secondary roadways.The maps of the ride are at the bottom of the page.
The first 288 registrants, 13 and over, will receive a long sleeve, quarter zip, wick shirt, and a cycling cap.
Beneficiaries of the event are: Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, Barnstable Land Trust, Cape Cod Maritime Museum.
Sea Sports Cyclery and Outdoor and Specialized will be there demostrating Specialized bikes, Rob Miceli, of Cotuit Cycling Tours will be there putting on the youth events.
The ride has four components:
A youth ride for those 6 and under for 500 yards, which begins at 8:00 a.m.
A youth ride for those 7-12 for one mile, which begins at 8:10 a.m.
The main ride, which begins at 8:30 a.m.

There will be a pre-event party at the Cape Cod Beer’s brewery,1336 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis, MA on from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m, where packet pick up will be for all pre-registrants and same weekend registrants. You can register the day of the event. There will be a post-event party at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, directly next to Aselton Park. Everyone who rides will receive a complimentary membership to the Maritime Museum.
There is a fundraising component to the event, and although not a requisite, it is appreciated. The goal is to have every participant raise at least $30.00 for one of the beneficiaries. When you receive your confirmation e-mail the details will be included.
The top fundraisers, male and female, who raise the most funds will receive a prize.
